Neil is a rancher, businessman and housing advocate in Monterey County running for California State Assembly, District 30, in 2018. The district includes Salinas and it’s fertile valley, all of San Benito County, Watsonville, and Gilroy and Morgan Hill in Santa Clara County.

 

Neil grew up in the U.S. South, a 4th generation farmer. Neil's family had two farms, in Arkansas and Georgia.  These farms are still in his family today and he visits them often.  

 

Neil moved to Monterey County California when he was 19 to start a Care Home business with his Mother. The business quickly grew to include housing for the mentally ill. It is here that Neil found his true passion, providing housing for mentally ill, elderly, low and middle income people.  

 

He also grows timber on the family farm in Arkansas for pulp and paper products, lumber and other wood products. In 1997, he finally was able to fulfill a dream and buy a horse ranch in Prunedale.

 

Neil attended Hartnell College where he obtained a degree in Criminal Justice, and briefly played football for Hartnell and then when on to play semi pro for the San Jose Wildcats, from 1998 through 2000. Sports has taught Neil traditional throughout his life. He then obtained his Paralegal from California State University Monterey Bay. He was inspired to attend Law School at Monterey College of Law, where he obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree in 2008.

 

Neil lives with his fiance', Tara Wilkins, in beautiful Monterey County. Neil and Tara will be married in September of 2018.
